Welcome

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist in Washington, DC, providing individual and group therapy for adults seeking meaningful, lasting change. With over a decade of experience, I help clients navigate anxiety, relationships, and emotional challenges with warmth, insight, and respect.

Beginning Therapy

I believe therapy can be one of the most meaningful experiences in a person’s life. It also takes courage to start. That’s why I strive to build a collaborative and compassionate relationship with each client—one that helps them engage deeply in the work and get the most out of their therapy. Through that relationship I seek to help people reconnect with the parts of themselves that may have been shut down by pain, fear, or disconnection so they can develop a sense of wholeness as well as greater meaning and fulfillment in their lives.

Who I Work With

Over the past decade, I’ve worked with young adults, high-achieving professionals, students, and others navigating the uncertainty of life transitions: new jobs, changing relationships, anxiety, anger, and grief. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or in despair, therapy offers a space to make sense of what’s happening and find your way through.

My Therapeutic Approach

I draw on psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches, with a focus on attachment, emotional safety, and relational repair. My work is informed not only by my training, but by my own experience as a patient. I know what it’s like to feel anxious and vulnerable walking into a therapist’s office and placing my faith in them. That lived experience helps me show up with empathy and to hold space for the full range of feelings that therapy can bring up.

What You Can Expect In Therapy With Me

I work with adults 18 and older from my office in downtown Washington, DC, as well as through virtual and phone sessions. Many of the people I work with are in their late twenties through forties navigating high-pressure careers, relationships, transitions, or long-standing patterns that have started to feel limiting.

Here’s what our work together typically looks like:

  • Session length: Each session lasts 45 minutes. You’re welcome to meet with me in person, over video, or by phone, whatever feels most workable and supportive for you.
  • Getting started: In our initial sessions, I’ll ask questions to get a clear sense of what’s bringing you in and to help you feel understood. We’ll begin mapping out not only what’s painful, but also what feels important to you in healing.
  • Understanding your history: A key part of our early work involves exploring the relationships and experiences that have shaped how you relate to yourself and others. This context helps me understand how your struggles formed and how to support meaningful change.
  • Finding the core: As I get to know you more deeply, I’ll reflect back what I believe is at the heart of your challenges, and offer a working roadmap for how therapy can help you move forward.

Working at your pace: Throughout this process, I stay closely attuned to how you’re feeling. Therapy should not feel rushed or too exposing. It’s important to me that we move at a pace that feels safe and steady for you.

Group Therapy In Washington, DC

In addition to individual therapy, I co-lead in-person therapy groups in DC each week, which can be a powerful way to build confidence, deepen insight, and accelerate growth.

These groups aren’t built around a single theme like anxiety or self-esteem or anxiety. People come together to practice being more open and direct, to work through patterns that play out in their relationships, and to try out new ways of connecting. We keep the groups small (between 4–8 people) and meet in the evenings.

What Clients Say About Working With Me

Clients often tell me that they feel seen in our work, that I’m warm, caring, and able to help them make sense of what’s going on underneath the surface. Therapy can be challenging and patients tell me they appreciate my openness to feedback and willingness to work through the difficult moments of therapy where they may be feeling hurt, angry or anxious about our work together.

Credentials & Clinical Background

I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from George Mason University and completed my postdoctoral fellowship at the George Washington University Counseling Center. I’m a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in both DC and Virginia, a member of PSYPACT, and a Certified Group Psychotherapist through the American Group Psychotherapy Association. I’m also affiliated with the New Washington School of Psychiatry, where I’ll soon begin teaching other therapists.

A Bit More About Me

Outside the office, I live in DC with my wife and our silly English bulldog. I’m a big sports fan (go Commanders!), enjoy board games, and spend as much time as I can with friends. I’m also someone who’s navigated my own health challenges, and I understand what it’s like when energy and attention are split between personal goals and ongoing care. That lived experience helps me meet clients with the compassion and nuance their lives deserve.
