Assertiveness / Anger Management
Anger is a normal emotion that all people experience. It can range from a feeling of annoyance to a full-fledged rage. And while anger can be healthy, it becomes a problem when it gets out of control, becomes destructive and is negatively impacting your daily life. I work to help people understand the sources of their anger and how to calm themselves when it is triggered so that they can express themselves in an assertive manner that strengthens relationships rather than an aggressive one that hurts them. I have also found that many people develop anger issues out of chronic experiences of feeling misunderstood, criticized and undervalued, and that feeling heard in an a nonjudgmental manner in therapy has a natural soothing effect that over time can help to resolve long-standing difficulties with anger.
